Requirements
- No Work Allowed: Must not engage in employment or business in Spain.
- Principal applicant: €28.800/year (400% IPREM, 2025).
- Additional family: +€7.200/year per member (100% IPREM).
- Proof of Funds: Recent bank certificate or verifiable passive income.
- Health Insurance: Private policy from a Spanish provider.
- Clean Criminal Record: From all countries of residence (last 5 years).
- Medical Certificate: Stating no public health risks.
- Accommodation: In certain cases, applicants may be asked to provide a rental agreement or proof of property ownership, though this is generally uncommon.
- Tax Residency: Required to stay 183+ days/year, then, you become a Spanish tax resident.
- Global Income Tax: Subject to Spanish taxes, with applicable double taxation treaties.
- Capital Gains & Property Tax: Apply if you invest or purchase assets in Spain.
Application process from home country
- Gather required documents.
- Submit to Spanish Consulate.
- Wait for approval (1- 3 months)
- Receive visa & travel to Spain within 3 months.
- Register at local municipality. (From Spain)
- Apply for TIE (residence card) within 30 days. (From Spain). Visa includes NIE number for identification.
